This month, October 2026, is the 50th anniversary of the start of our club. Each of the original charter members gathered together to grant our charter, which was presented in February 1977.
The charter members were tutored between October and February by a dedicated group of Rotarians from the downtown and Calgary south clubs. We were the fifth club established in Calgary and all male at the time.
Jim Thompson is our last active member from this time.
Ranchman's Roundup
Our Ranchman’s Roundup was a great success, with 144 attendees enjoying two wonderful bands sponsored by Brennen Pell’s company, Norse Landscapes.
The silent auction was a big part of it’s success, thanks to a ton of work by Sharon Fraiman and donations from Jim Thompson, Joe Hooper, Al Holt, Nick Crowston, Tammy T and others.
Thanks to George & Sharon for the pictures, and to our volunteers at the entrance and selling 50-50 tickets - Moe, Neil, Anthony, Nick and Hank. And to the winner of the 50-50 - Nick’s brother-in-law, who donated his $560 winnings!
The auction raised $4200, and $1200 from the 50-50 plus the profit from the tickets gives us a total of about $7100!

Method of electing New Members
“If no written objection to the proposal, stating reasons, is received by the Board from any member (other than Honorary) of the Club within (7) days following publication of information about the prospective member, that person, upon payment of admission fee (if not Honorary membership) as prescribed in the bylaws, shall be considered to be elected to membership. If any such objection has been filed with the Board, it shall vote on this matter at its next meeting. If approved despite the objection, the proposed member, upon payment of the admission fee, shall be considered to be elected to membership”.
