On October 22, 2015 the Membership Committee held an evening meeting to discuss membership and strategize on ways to increase it.

Our Membership Goal is to recruit 20 new members this Rotary year, and 15 new members each year for the next 4 years.  We anticipate losing 9 members each year for the next 4 years, based on club history,  for a total of 45 members.  Therefore we will end 2019/2020 with 115 members.

The detailed the results of the discussions will be emailed to all members and included in the print Arch.  We now need members to step forward and take on the various aspects of the plan and help to increase our membership levels.

Our Community Service Committee is an active group of Club members.  Current hands-on activities include:

     - Christmas Shoe boxes - both filling, and a shift sorting
     - Salvation Army Christmas kettle shifts
     - Serving a Mustard Seed supper
     - Ladies Purse project - more info to come on this in early 2016
     - upcoming Shifts at Ronald McDonald house
     - and others completed and to come.......
(editor's note: sorry if I missed any!)

The Club has also contributed $1000 towards the purchase of a commercial Mixmaster (sic) for the Mustard Seed kitchen.

Great community work by Bev Tonkinson, Wayne Weibe and the rest of the Community Service Committee!

Chinook Rotary teams with Medical Mercy to bring Light:

This year’s project will be to provide Solar lighting to homes for displaced people in Loi-Kaw, Shan State, Myanmar. Our project will install 80 sets of lights which will help the lives of 500 people who live in straw housing and currently have no electric power services. The lighting systems will improve safety since current lighting is provided by candles and kerosene lamps. Lighting will extend peoples days allowing additional study time for kids and family interaction. Our on-site volunteers purchase the kits locally (previously tested for robustness), train villagers to install & maintain the systems. In addition repeat annual visits ensure that the systems remain operable and sustainable over many years.
