The Rotary Foundation
Recently all members should have received on update on their status with TRF.  Plus a Rotary Direct form – this was included as a gentle nudge to get members to sign up for the monthly (even quarterly and annually) plan.  $15.00 a month is the minimum.

The Board of the club has again agreed to match any TRF donation made this Rotary year, e.g.  a $15.00 monthly donation becomes $30.00 a month.  The match programme enables members to get a PHF recognition earlier.

The Points listed on the update.  What the heck are they?  After an initial donation of US$1,000 to TRF every additional dollar earns a point.  A point is equivalent to 1 US $.  These points cannot be used personally but they can be donated to another person or organisation.  Recently Gwynneth recognised Bart as a Paul Harris Fellow.  She used 1,000 of her points do this.  If you have family members or friends you would like to honour with a PHF the points can be used for this.

Tax receipt.  At the end of the calendar year TRF automatically sends a tax receipt to donors on the Rotary Direct programme.

5. The Rotary Foundation

This not-for-profit organization works to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace. Using Rotary Foundation grants, Rotary's 34,000 clubs across the globe develop and carry out sustainable humanitarian projects and provide scholarships and professional training opportunities.

One of its biggest initiatives aims at eradicating polio through its PolioPlus program, launched in 1985. Since then, Rotary and its partners, including the World Health Organization and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, have immunized more than 2.5 billion children, reducing the incidence of polio by 99 percent and eradicating it from all but three countries.

Score: 96.31

It also made it on Forbes' list of the top 50 largest US Charities.  (http://onforb.es/YMTpIz)

Wasn't That a Party!!
What a great time was had by all who attended.

Tammy kicked the event off around 7:00 pm dragging people away from the bar line up and very vigorous conversations going on around the room, to sing the anthem. Joe Hooper did the invocation.  Food arrived promptly after and the Carriage House did a great job of the two entrees.

Around 8:00 pm, the "Rowdy Pianos" came to the stage and were not allowed off until well after the planned 10:00 pm end of their set.  Members and partners were up and dancing from the first song, and requests poured in for these two talented musicians to play.  The floor was still crowded at 10:00 pm.  What a "rowdy" bunch of Rotarians we were!!  The dance floor was never empty, and sometimes virtually everyone in the room was up on the floor.  Soon most had their jackets off, ties loosened and some sleeves were rolled up, and one member who will remain nameless rolled up his pant legs to more properly execute the can-can.

Notables among the late night attendees were the Mays, Wolfsons, Saunders and Picks, all of whom faced longer drives to get home, facing the snowstorm that had arrived during the festivities.   What can I say - next year get a room guys!

Thanks Tammy for arranging and hosting a fantastic Christmas party for the club!!
